Can I enroll in Opportunity Passport™ if I was not a state-ward?
No, you must have been a Nebraska state-ward in order to qualify for Opportunity Passport™,
Can I deposit the full amount as soon as the IDA account is open?
Yes, but we do encourage monthly deposits in order for you to form a saving habit that will help you be financially stable in the future.
Do I have to have a job to enroll in Opportunity Passport™?
No, you do not need to have a job to enroll, but you will need some form of income in order to maintain your asset purchase.
If I have to leave the program before reaching my saving goal what happens to the money in the IDA account?
You will receive the money you deposited including any money earned through incentives, but not the match.
Can I use the match to pay past due debt?
Yes, you can utilize the Debt Repayment match at a 2:1 rate or the Participant Specific match at a 1:1 rate.
Do I need to save the total amount to receive the match?
The amount available in the IDA account will be matched at the time of the request
Can I save for more than one asset?
Yes, you can receive one match per year until you reach the $6,000 cap allowed by the program. The Participant-Specific match of 1:1 can be requested in conjunction with other matches.
If I leave the program can I enroll again?
Yes, as long as you reside in Omaha and meet the age qualification you are eligible to re-enroll in the program. You must complete the financial education course prior to us opening a new IDA account for you, but you will not receive new seed money.
