Executive Director's Welcome

Family Housing Advisory Services (FHAS) has been addressing local housing issues since 1968. We educate and empower people to take advantage of affordable housing opportunities so that they can improve their housing situation, become homeowners, budget their income, improve their credit, save money, and build assets.
We help people locate affordable rental housing (Tenant Services), become homeowners, learn options to foreclosure, and use home equity to supplement income (Homeowner Education). We offer affordable housing finance ( Omaha 100). We also help IDA Program participants optimize their finances in a two-year 2-to-1 matched-savings program for a down payment on a home, business startup, college education (Financial Literacy Education / Asset Management). We also provide supportive services to residents of senior communities (Tenant Services).

FHAS has been instrumental in resolving major crisis situations in our city, including relocating 149 Wintergreen Apartment residents, relocating 785 of the historic Logan Fontenelle residents, assisting 85 Hurricane Katrina victims, and finding housing options to assist in other fire or emergency relief efforts.

FHAS specializes in helping our community members succeed. We foster economic empowerment, community development and self-sufficiency for all people by providing housing education, advocacy, counseling, and dispute resolution services. We help build stronger housing and financial foundations today so that our children will experience a better tomorrow.
